Homefed Holiday Gifts: Beer Breads

Cheddar-Chive Beer Bread  

Ingredients 

  • 3 cups flour 
  • 1 tbsp baking powder 
  • ½ tsp salt 
  • ½ cup chopped fresh chives 
  • 1 cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese; don’t use pre-shredded 
  • 1 12-ounce can of Island Coastal Lager 
  • 3 tablespoons honey, warmed 
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter 

Instructions 

Preheat oven to 350°. Fit an 8" x 4" loaf pan (or several mini loaf pans) with parchment paper or generously spray with cooking spray.  

In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, salt, chives and cheddar cheese. Add in the warmed honey and Island Coastal Lager. Stir until well-combined; don't overmix! 

Pour mixture into the prepared loaf pan, top with two tablespoons of butter and bake in preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes*, or until the top is golden brown and the middle is solid (test with a toothpick). With 10 minutes left in baking, remove the bread from the oven, add the remaining one tablespoon of melted butter on top, return to oven and finish baking. Cool for 8 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. 

*For mini loaf pans, bake time will be 30-35 minutes. 

Swiss-Gouda Beer Bread   

Ingredients  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour 
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder 
  • 2 tablespoons sugar 
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt 
  • 1 cup of shredded Swiss cheese; don’t use pre-shredded  
  • ½ cup of shredded Gouda cheese; don’t use pre-shredded 
  • 2 tsp of fresh ground black pepper  
  • 1 12-ounce can of Island Coastal Lager 
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted 

Instructions
